our favorite weekend with so many memories!
4 games and 8 teams, we are down to the best of the best, and equally important, who is still healthy?
This is our favorite weekend of football, yes much more to come next weekend and the Super Bowl, but this is the last weekend where the multi-game atmosphere can lead to at least 1 or 2 classics. Here is more about my favorite Divisional memories:
The Meadowlands Magic - Hope against all odds.
Of all the Sundays spent at the Meadowlands with my Dad and brother-in-law surrounded by the smell of charcoal grills and the inevitable ‘Same Old Jets’ skepticism—January 10, 1999, stands alone. This wasn’t just another game; it was the Bill Parcells era at its peak. Led by a revitalized Vinny Testaverde, the Jets didn’t just play; they commanded the field.
The air was electric because, for the first time in a generation, we weren’t just hoping, we expected to win. That 34-24 victory over the Jaguars wasn’t just a box score; it was a rare moment of pure, unadulterated Jet pride. Little did we know then that as we walked out of the stadium that day, we were leaving the site of what remains our last home playoff win. It was the day the Jets finally made us believers.
The Epic in Miami - The birth of a lifelong obsession.
If the Jets made me a fan, the ‘Epic in Miami’ first made me a disciple of the game. I was 11 years old, glued to the screen as the San Diego Chargers and Miami Dolphins turned a football field into a gladiator pit. It started as a blowout, a 24-0 Chargers onslaught that silenced the Orange Bowl. But then, the momentum shifted like a tidal wave.
The Dolphins’ legendary hook-and-lateral play just before halftime didn’t just cut the lead, it set the game on fire. What followed was a breathless, back-and-forth war of attrition. I’ll never forget the sight of a dehydrated, exhausted Kellen Winslow, a Tight End playing with the heart of a lion who somehow summoning the strength to block a field goal in overtime. When the Chargers finally escaped with a 41-38 overtime win, I wasn’t just watching a game anymore. I was hooked for life.

Bills at Broncos - Bills +1.5 - I know the week off helps, but sometimes it can hurt and I am a believer in the Bills
49ers at Seahawks - Seahawks ML - Just too many injuries on the 49ers defense to stop a team that had week off, even with Sam Darnold’s arm tweak.
Texans at Patriots - Texans +3.5 - The Texans, even without Nico Collins, are designed for playoff wins, a wall of a defense, and a solid running game.
Rams at Bears - Rams ML - I have enjoyed the ‘Cardiac’ Bears as much as anyone else, but too much talent and the Rams played their bad game of these playoffs and survived.
